Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club have signed Middlesex fast bowler Tom Barber for the upcoming 2020 season.
The 24 year old Dorset born left arm seam bowler joined the Lords based side in 2017 after starting his career at Hampshire. Barber has been on trial at Trent Bridge in recent weeks impressing the clubs Head Coach Peter Moores who stated “We’ve had the chance to take an extended look at Tom and he’s fully earned his opportunity as part of our setup.”
Moores said “His left-arm angle offers something different to our bowling attack and he bowls with genuine pace as well, which is an asset to any squad.”
Having played only two County Championship matches for Middlesex before his release the rangy 6ft3in bowler has also played for England at under 19 level making his first class debut in 2018. In List A games Barber has just 7 fifty over matches under his belt with 11 T20 matches with a best of 4/28.
Barber who joins Haeeb Hameed, Peter Trego and Mohammad Abbas all as new Nottinghamshire signings for the season ahead stated ““Trent Bridge is a really special place, it’s a Test ground, and plenty of great matches and performances have happened here, so I’m excited to hopefully get out there for Notts this summer.”
