Stuart Broad is Nottinghamshire’s only representative in the England Test squad that will take on Sri Lanka in a two match series starting on 19th March 2020.
The fast bowler took more wickets than any other player for England during their series win in South Africa and will again be relied upon to provide vital experience in a young team that will open their account on Saturday 7th March with a three day warm up match against a Cricket Sri Lanka Invitational XI in Katunayake.
Broad now 33 years young has played 136 Test matches for England taking 485 wickets at an average 28.50 and he’lll be looking to become only the second player ever (after his good friend Jimmy Anderson) to take over 500 Test wickets which he can hopefully achieve before the end of the year.
Joining Broad in the England squad will be Trent Rockets Joe Root who as usual will captain the side with the tour concluding on the 1st April after the second Test in Colombo just 12 days before the start of the County Championship season.
Full Squad: Joe Root (Yorkshire), Dominic Bess (Somerset), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Sam Curran (Surrey), Joe Denley (Kent), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Keaton Jennings (Lancashire), Jack Leach (Somerset), Matthew Parkinson (Lancashire), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Dominic Sibley (Warwickshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham).
