Matt Cotton has left newly named Newark Football Club as he heads East down the A46 to Northern Premier League second tier side Lincoln United.
The player stated “It was a pleasure to play for the club and management” although reiterated It was a “shame I didn’t play as many as I would have liked through injury”.
The Midland League side will again be looking at challenging for honours next season after having their 2019/20 campaign cut short and ‘the highwaymen’ are delighted to have former full back Will Rawdon back at the club for a second spell.
Rawdon rejoins adding more defensive quality as the former Grantham Town and Sleaford left back was most recently at Stamford following impressive years successfully winning leagues at both Dunkirk and Newark in both 2018 and 2019.
The defender stated “After a year away from the game due to business commitments and now on my return this was a simple decision. I’m looking forward to seeing faces old and new.”
As well as big new signings Newark have big players currently at the club putting pen to paper for another season having captured the signature of former Celtic striker Ben Hutchinson for yet another year ahead.
The clubs top goalscorer last season has proved to be one of the leagues best players and will be a vital pivot again in the Oranges promotion push.
Another big name in is former Notts County striker Francois Zoko who becomes head of the Academy in a role that will see him partake in both playing and coaching.
Newark, who recently dropped the ‘Flowserve’ tag from their name to fall in line with FA ruling have also resigned the influential Tom Potts whilst Danny Meadows is another star that will be a mainstay at Lowlands next season having put pen to paper for another 12 months.
