Flanker Carl Kirwan has joined Nottingham ahead of the new RFU Championship season adding valuable experience and quality to the Green and Whites front line for the campaign ahead.
The Durham born former Rotherham, London Welsh and Worcester Warriors forward, now 29, originally came through the Newcastle Falcons Academy and has over 100 competitive senior appearances including Premiership experience whilst at Worcester.
Having captained London Welsh he moved to Worcester in 2015 before going on loan to Ealing Trailfinders in 2017 and most recently Kirwan played part-time for Chinnor Rugby Club in Oxfordshire where he was able to play rugby combined with working in the construction industry.
In going part-time themselves, Nottingham have been able to capture the 6ft3in, 110kg powerhouse in an exciting move that will boost the club with added quality and personality both on and off the pitch.
Head Coach Neil Fowkes delighted with the signing stated “Carl is a fantastic ball-carrier, he’s dynamic and a fantastic leader. He is certainly a great addition to our back-row and we’re really looking forward to seeing him go when the season returns. He brings a wealth of experience which will be vital during the 2020/21 season.”
