Retford United have made a double sweep in signing former Coventry City Academy star Illack Tongo Chiti along with Kosi Nwobi after both impressed on debut during a friendly win over Swallownest on Tuesday night.
After coming on at half time the two youngsters were superb against Northern Counties East opposition with Nwobi scoring a sensational goal with a thunderous half volley as the Badgers took the lead on the night.
Swallownest levelled before a Brandon Kane free kick won the game for the Central Midlanders with Tongo a constant threat to opposition defenders in the behind-closed doors match at Cannon Park.
It wasn’t all good news as Retford’s Jacob Dawson dislocated his shoulder early on in the match and he could be out up to six weeks.
The signings of Chiti and Nwobi are in addition to another recent incoming in former AFC Mansfield and Sheffield United Academy star Jason Paling signing for the club who hope to be challenging for honours in the Central Midlands North Division next season.
All three signings are likely to feature for the club on Saturday as they travel to Beverley in another friendly match this time in East Yorkshire.
