Notts Outlaws 169/4-167/5 Lancashire Lightening (T20 Blast North Group) 11.09.20
Notts Outlaws are sitting pretty at the top of the Vitality Blast North Group after a dominant display with the bat which saw them chase down their target with three overs to spare.
Lightening hit 167/5 from their twenty overs with Steven Croft top scoring on 37 as Samit Patel took two wickets for 19 and in return Notts got off to a shaky start losing Chris Nash with just two on the board.
A partnership of 82 between Alex Hales and Joe Clarke however had Notts chasing in on target and although Hales went for 19 it was Clarke, dominant with the bat who smashed an amazing 77 from 36 balls with seven 4’s and five sixes.
By the time Duckett had gone for 18 and Clarke followed, Notts were 134/4 with six overs remaining and it was left to Tom Moores (31 not out) and Dan Christian (20 not out) to see the side through to victory with 18 balls to go.
The win takes Notts on to ten points from six played which is currently the best return from all groups including the Central and South divisions.
In the womens game there was positive news for the East Midlands franchise Lightning as they recorded their first victory in this summer’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
After scoring 233/8 from their 50 overs thanks largely to an opening partnership of 148 between Sarah Bryce (75) and Bethan Ellis (62) the team kept Central Sparks down to 227/9 in a tense finish that saw the away side take the points.
Impressive with the ball was Alicia Presland who took 3/26 from ten overs. Next up for Lightning is Thunder on Sunday in a North Group match played at Aigburth, Liverpool whilst for Notts Outlaws they host Derbyshire in an away match played at Trent Bridge.
