Notts County have signed Matty Wolfe on loan from Championship side Barnsley. The 20 year old midfielder comes in as a much needed number to contest with the likes of Michael Doyle, Jim O’Brien and Jake Reeves in a centre of the park that has recently lost Danish International Casper Sloth.
Wolfe will provide added quality into an area much needed in bulking up following the summer exits of Mitch Rose, Regan Booty, Tom Crawford and Sam Osbourne. Neal Ardley did sign Jake Reeves pre-season as well as Sloth who recently departed after failing to settle in the city.
An Academy graduate at Oakwell, Wakefield born Wolfe has made just one appearance for Barnsley after coming on as substitute against Nottingham Forest in a 1-0 victory in July and will provide a positive boost of youthfulness to the Magpies midfield, signing until 3rd January 2021 on a temporary deal from South Yorkshire.
The club have today also learned their cup fate and have been drawn against Kings Lynn Town in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round in a tie against newly promoted National League opposition which will be played over the weekend of 24th October.
