Mansfield Town host newly promoted Harrogate Town tonight as the Stags hope to go seven games unbeaten in all competitions.
Fortunes for Mansfield have picked up of late since the sacking of Graham Coughlan, with interim Manager Richard Cooper drawing two matches and winning one, famously at Sunderland in the FA Cup before handing the reigns to Nigel Clough who won his first two games in charge before drawing at the weekend with Colchester.
Harrogate who beat Notts County in last seasons National League Playoff Final, are fourteenth in the table, five points above Mansfield in 21st.
On tonight’s opponents, manager Nigel Clough stated ahead of the game “They’re very competitive and very strong on set plays. They bring a good aerial threat and that’s something we’ll have to deal with.”
Continuing “We’ll be as positive as we can. We’re at home, so we’ll try to take the game to Harrogate and create as many chances as we can.”
On reflecting on his own teams performances of late Clough stated “I think we’re slowly improving, but it’s going to be a long job. You see the likes of Forest Green and Colchester, and how comfortable they are in possession, they’re better on the ball than we are at the moment – but we’ll improve.”
George Maris is likely to miss out with bruised ribs whilst Joe Riley, missing long term, recovers from an ACL injury, the game is available on iFollow with a 7pm kick off scheduled.
