Notts County 2-2 Kings Lynn Town (National League) 02.03.21
A goal in the first minute of the game and a goal in the last minute of the match between a quick-fire double by Kyle Wootton ensured Kings Lynn Town would deservingly take a point from Meadow Lane in an entertaining match between the two sides.
The Magpies got off to the worse possible start as Sonny Carey hit a spectacular strike into Sam Slocombe’s top left-hand corner inside two minutes – an incredible left footed effort that caught all inside the stadium by surprise.
Wootton went close to equalising after 15 minutes from a Rodrigues corner before Mitchell struck over for the visitors and Slocombe was forced to save brilliantly from Barrows one-on-one as the linnets impressed on the counter-attack early-doors.
On 29 minutes Kyle Wootton shot low which was saved and held at the second attempt by Mair but the visitors goalkeeper could do nothing on 38 when Jake Reeves cross deflected up in the air for Wootton to nod home from six yards out.
The game wasn’t locked horns for long either, the match literally turned on its head within four minutes as Wootton made it two for him and two for County when the striker headed home his twelfth league goal of the campaign.
Following on from their late response in the first half, Notts came out quick from the traps in the second 45 and after intense early pressure, Rodrigues spurned opportunity on 53 as he headed over from six yards when it looked easier to score.
At the other end Mitchell shot blocked on 64 before flashing wide four minutes later and as Lynn pressed Lacey blocked from Clunan inside the area with County riding their luck. Another opportunity spurned for the away side on 80 after Clunan wriggled into the area before shooting wide.
As time ticked it looked to be running against the plucky Norfolk outfit but a 93rd minute leveller by Mitchell meant that the game ended all square as Notts fail to take all three points with no win in the league now for three matches.
