Finals Day Delayed By Rain
Nottinghamshire Outlaws have been made to wait as the rain in Birmingham has left finals day in tatters for this seasons Vitality Blast T20 tournament.
Notts were supposed to play Lancashire Lightning earlier this afternoon after Surrey were supposed to face Gloucestershire in the semi-finals at Edgbaston with the final played after but conditions have simply not allowed for any cricket thus far.
The wet weather is set to continue tomorrow where a reserve day has been scheduled should no play commence today.
If no play takes place tomorrow either there could be a bowl out to settle all three matches which is similar to a penalty shoot out in football where bowlers take turns to throw at an unguarded wicket or play may be re-scheduled for Wednesday where hope is that the weather will be better.
A summer sport as we know, this is the first time the tournament finals have been held in October due to coronavirus largely upsetting the regular season flow with a delayed start with this weekend seen as the earliest opportunity for the later stages of the Vitality Blast to have been played.
Despite the finals day delay there has been some good news for Nottinghamshire today as homegrown England International Stuart Broad has received the Test Player of the Summer by the NatWest Cricket Awards.
