Beth Curzon – This Girl Can

Beth Curzon has blazed a trail from Nottingham to Bulgaria … as one of Notts County’s most successful European football exports.

It’s been a long and rewarding journey for Beth (23) who came through the Magpies’ female Academy squad to earn a contract with the home-town club of former Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov.

She’s spent the past three months in Southern Bulgaria with Pirin Blagoevgrad helping them push for the Bulgarian National Women’s League title.

“It’s been a tremendous experience for me. The offer came completely out of the blue and I literally packed my life into my suitcase and flew out there,” said Beth, speaking to the Magpie Circle podcast, hosted by former Notts director and lifelong fan Paul Mace.

“It’s a very professional set-up and the women’s team is treated extremely well.”

“It’s been a great education for me and I am so grateful for the opportunity.”

“There’s quite a bit of travelling as it’s a National League but I’ve really enjoyed my time.”

“Unfortunately, covid is getting quite bad out there at the moment so I’ve had to fly home ahead of the winter break.”

Football and Notts County run in the family for the former Rushcliffe School pupil.

Her grandfather used to manage the very successful local club Clifton All Whites and her father is a big Notts fan.
