Nottingham Rugby face their second and final friendly of pre-season tonight as they host Cambridge RUFC at the Bay in a 7:45pm kick off under the lights.
The club start their Greene King IPA Championship campaign in a fortnight (Sat 10th Sep) at London Scottish and tonight’s match up against National League One (level 3) opponents will be a tough test ahead of their 2022/23 second tier task over the next eight months.
Last weekend the Green & Whites were beaten by Welsh Premiership side Aberavon 31-21 Trentside, but positives saw first points scored for new signings Marcus Ramage and Josh Goodwin who both went over for tries. There was also a touch-down for regular try scorer in winger David Williams.
Against Aberavon the club showcased a large number of their squad pool and tonight, against Cambridge, Head Coach Craig Hammond will be looking for more of the same, in putting much needed minutes into his players engines ahead of the big start at London Scottish who last season were the only club in the division to finish below Nottingham in the table.
With adult tickets from £5 and under 16’s free, this match up offers the perfect opportunity to bring along the family for some Rugby Union fun during the summer holidays.
Ahead of the match, Criag Hammond has announced his team which is as follows:
Starting Team: Jordan Olowofela, David Williams, Charlie Thacker, Harry Graham, Sam Hollingsworth, Liam Slatem, Toby Williams, Harry Clayton, Dan Richardson, Tom Manz, Scott Hall, George Cox, Nathan Tweedy, Josh Poullet (c).
Replacements: Jack Dickinson, Aniseko Sio, Xavier Valentine, Ben Betts, Ross Bundy, Iosefa Maloney-Fialo, Lewis Barrett, Michael Stronge, Morgan Bunting, Javiah Pohe, Jacob Cusick, Joe Browning.
