Panthers Sign Garát

The Nottingham Panthers have announced the signing of experienced Hungarian international Zsombor Garát to strengthen their defensive unit.

Garát is expected to replace Cooper Zech who suffered a lower body injury in the home meeting against the Guildford Flames in the Challenge Cup.

Zech is expected to be out for at least 90 days following the new long-term-injury-reserve rules in the EIHL that was announced at the start of the season.

The Hungarian joins the Panthers following a season in the ECHL in North America for the Worcester Railers where he scored two goals and assisted in 13 from his 63 games played.

The 27-year-old also brings in over 100 games worth of experience in the Hungarian national team at both the top division and division 1A.

Head Coach Danny Stewart believes Garát’s international experience will bring good value to the team, adding much needed depth to the Panthers side.
