{"id":10572,"date":"2021-08-13T15:51:37","date_gmt":"2021-08-13T15:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nottinghamsport.com\/?p=10572"},"modified":"2021-08-13T18:34:41","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T18:34:41","slug":"tigers-swoop-at-the-double","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nottinghamsport.com\/index.php\/2021\/08\/13\/tigers-swoop-at-the-double\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigers Swoop At The Double"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manager Craig Parry has added to the ranks at Worksop Town ahead of the season-opener against Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday (14 August) with the loan additions of Sam Ackroyd and Tiernan Brooks.<\/p>\n<p>Ackroyd, a striker, arrives at Sandy lane in a dual-registration with Parkgate, impressing in their recent match against Retford United where he bagged a hat-trick, meanwhile Brooks, a goalkeeper, has previous at the Tigers having had a spell on-loan last year.<\/p>\n<p>Having begun at the Sheffield United Academy, Ackroyd is an attacker with whom Parry sees some great potential. Understandably excited about the arrival, Parry told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worksoptownfc.com\">worksoptownfc.com<\/a>: \u201cWe are working closely with our friends at Parkgate on that side of things.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSam has done very well with Parkgate and has already scored a hat-trick early doors. But I think we have been more impressed with him when he has played against us twice in pre-season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a lad who has plenty of potential, has a lot of pace, and is very clinical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be working together with Parkgate to ensure that he gets the game time that he needs and, hopefully, take the right steps to nurture him and get him working with our lads, as well as getting game time with Parkgate to develop him into our first-team plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Ackroyd provides valued cover for the likes of Steven McDonnell and Zayn Hakeem, Brooks will also be thrown straight in once that new, Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division campaign begins.<\/p>\n<p>Although still a teenager, the shot-stopper can already count valued experience at Sheffield Wednesday, Lincoln United (loan) and Notts County, from whom he joins on loan, whilst he has played at all junior levels for the Republic of Ireland \u2013 idyllic support for Sebastian Malkowski.<\/p>\n<p>Parry adds of the \u2018keeper who, due to covid, was unable to make his competitive debut for the Tigers last year, that: \u201cIt is great to get Tiernan over the line; it is no hidden secret that we have been chasing him for quite a long time to get him back into the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to have him signed and ready to work with us again, as he will be starting the season in goal for the Tigers, and it will be great competition between him and Seb [Malkowski] \u2013 I believe that we have got the best two goalkeepers at this level and the level above.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom Tiernan\u2019s point of view, he has done pre-season with Notts County and has played a lot of games for their first team and fair play to him because I believe he will go on to play in the league, but he has to come out and prove it and hopefully we will be the benefactors of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe comes here to prove that he can step up and he can get some competitive game time under his belt and prove to Notts County and their management team that he is capable of playing at a National League and Football League standard when he is called upon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am glad that we have been able to get him on board and I look forward to working more with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saturday will see Worksop Town welcome Yorkshire Amateur to the Windsor Foodservice Stadium, in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division, their first, competitive match, since 31 October 2020.<\/p>\n<p><img  title=\"\"  alt=\"Peter-Mann Tigers Swoop At The Double\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.nottinghamsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Peter-Mann.png?resize=150%2C150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>*Article provided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/petermannwriter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Mann<\/a>\u00a0(Senior Correspondent).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>*Main image\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/worksoptownfc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@worksoptownfc<\/a> Sam Ackroyd joins on dual-registration from Parkgate.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manager Craig Parry has added to the ranks at Worksop Town ahead of the season-opener against Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday (14 August) with the loan additions of Sam Ackroyd and Tiernan Brooks.
