There\u2019s been a revolution at Notts County Women over the past couple of years, and former Nottingham Forest starlet, Nya Chambers, now 20-years-old, is proud to have been, and still be, a part of it, as they start a new season, in that of the East Midlands Regional Women\u2019s Football League Premier Division.<\/p>\n

That new campaign, they knew it would be a difficult start, a tough opener which would see County edged 2-1 on the road, on a Wednesday night, at Rotherham United \u2013 defeat however, their first in the league for some time, is something they\u2019ll take on the chin and move on from.<\/p>\n

\u201cRotherham was always going to be a tough game and we were very much looking forward to it,\u201d began Nya.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made a number of good signings over the summer who will give us both competition, and improvement, throughout the season, a one which we know will be a completely different step to what we\u2019ve previously experienced.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe general feeling though, is that, as a club, it\u2019s a step that we\u2019ve got to take although it\u2019s one that\u2019ll be more competitive for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pulling on that black & white striped jersey, Chambers, like those around her, know the importance of it, and with that, a collective thought, an expectation, of what is required from them moving forward.<\/p>\n

Always one to put the club before herself, Chambers, whom has formed a tantalising, front-line partnership with Bella Reed, is happy with what they\u2019ve built up in the hope that, as a collective unit, they can continue their upward surge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still young, and, being here form the (re)start, I want to be able to take County as high as we possibly can,\u201d continued Nya.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to be able to build something that we can be really proud of and, although I wear the number seven jersey (or ten when needed) I\u2019m a striker and I\u2019ve formed a really good partnership with Bella (Reed).<\/p>\n

\u201cI come from a really good set-up that was at Forest, having been developed in their youth system, playing for their then Reserves and I really enjoyed it there, but I was much younger, and a completely different time then to what it is now.\u201d<\/p>\n

That time, as it is now, sees a County side looking to move on from that of recent seasons; the new EMWRFL campaign, where the Pies will be playing Premier Division football, will also see plenty of cup action, contests that will see them travel to Loughborough Foxes Vixens Women in the League Cup (7 November), and entertain the winners of Kettering Town Women, and Sherwood Women in the Vitality Women\u2019s FA Cup (3 October).<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a team, we need to be realistic this season, but a top half finish, maybe challenge for fourth place, would be a good result,\u201d added Nya.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also knew that, having not tasted defeat in a league game for a while, it was likely to happen this season, and we had to be prepared for that.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter all, there\u2019s some really good teams that we\u2019ll be competing against, week in, week out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Away from football, Nya certainly has her career in mind, and a lengthy one at that and, with expectations of strong grades once she finishes university, she\u2019s about to embark upon her third year at Sheffield Hallam University, then the world will be her oyster.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m studying Law with Criminology at Sheffield Hallam,\u201d explained Nya.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first two years have been a mixtures of in-uni, and online classes and I\u2019m about to start what\u2019ll be my third year.<\/p>\n

\u201cLaw has always been something that interest me and I studied it at college, and it is something from which there is a number of differing paths that I can take afterwards \u2013 although I\u2019m first looking at completing a Masters in Detective Policing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before that future kicks in however, and as every university student knows, there\u2019s also the small matter of the dissertation to work through and complete \u2013 not to worry, it looks like Nya has that firmly in hand also.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I\u2019ll be looking at the media aspect of the law,\u201d further Nya.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking at the media\u2019s portrayal of crimes, the differing ways in which they\u2019re portrayed, and how they form opinions within the media world.\u201d<\/p>\n

All-in-all that makes for a very busy year ahead for the young County striker, and, with the world being very much her oyster, she\u2019s definitely looking to make it one to remember.<\/p>\n
