Notts County face a trip to Staffordshire this weekend to fulfil their FA Cup fourth qualifying round fixture against Tamworth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The magpies come into this fixture off the back of an impressive, dominant victory away at Yeovil Town last weekend. The result ended a short winless run of form for Notts whilst also helping re-establish their confidence, especially coming into this fixture. Although this weekend\u2019s fixture is against a side several leagues below Notts, there is still an expectation that head coach Ian Burchnall names a strong starting eleven. Underestimation has been a big factor in past FA Cup upsets in the most historic underdog cup runs and Ian Burchnall will not want any to transpire against his team. This will be Notts\u2019 second FA Cup fourth qualifying round fixture in their three years as a Vanarama National League club. In their first season as a non-league outfit, the magpies welcomed Belper Town to Meadow Lane for their first and only current fourth qualifying round fixture. The game resulted in the home side winning by two goals one courtesy of a brace from talisman Kyle Wootton. The forward\u2019s brace helped Notts County comeback from a losing position on the day. Notts were scheduled to face fellow Vanarama National League Outfit Kings Lynn Town in last season\u2019s fourth qualifying round fixture. However, due to an outbreak of COVID-19 within the squad, they were left with no choice but to forfeit the fixture. This meant the Linnets entered the first round of the competition through a bye. As far as this weekend goes, Notts go into the fixture with another strong away following. The club was allocated just under one thousand tickets for away supporters. With only a small number of tickets remaining, it\u2019s no secret that the Notts faithful will once again play their role in becoming the catalyst for another strong performance, that will see their team entered into the draw for the Emirates FA Cup first round.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for Tamworth, they come into this weekend\u2019s fixture off the back of a convincing home victory against Stourbridge. An own goal from Jordan Clement, a goal for Dan Creaney and a brace former Notts forward Tyrell Waite secured a 4-0 victory for the lambs this past Tuesday evening. The lamb\u2019s faithful consider that result as the perfect result and performance prior to a big game this weekend from arguably the biggest non-league outfit.\u00a0 Tamworth have won six times this season, only losing twice in the process. due to their impressive start to the season, the lambs sit fifth in the Southern central premier division. When asked for his thoughts on the weekend\u2019s tie, manager Andrew Danylyszyn responded with one word, belief. The Nottingham born manager believes that belief is key to any underdog story in the FA Cup and if his side believe in themselves this weekend, they have a strong chance of causing an upset. A potential thorn in the side of Notts County in this game is Tamworth\u2019s current top goal scorer, Daniel Creaney. The forward has netted ten times in nine games thus far this season and his red-hot form is something the home faithful are hoping that doesn\u2019t cool off this weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

What can you expect in this fourth qualifying round tie?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For me, this is quite comfortably the tie of the round. Both sides have enjoyed good form thus far this season and have both tasted defeat in the process. It is no secret to anybody that the cup competitions are vital for non-league clubs not only for the occasions, but for the prize money. As there is prize money involved in this round of qualifying, I expect that to be a catalyst in the quality of both sides\u2019 performances. Notts will undoubtedly play their passing approach, like they have for the entirety of the season so far. It will be interesting to see what counter approach the hosts take in order to prevent the visitors in succeeding playing this way of football. However, Notts County have already proven this season that they can break down all types of counters their opponents try to play against them. As this is the case, the quality of the way they set up to play against Notts will determine the chances of a FA Cup upset being caused by Tamworth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although I believe the opening hour of the game will be closely contested, I believe the quality within the magpies\u2019 side will prove too much on the day for the lambs. Due to this, I am going for a 0-3 win for Notts County, seeing them progress through to the FA Cup first round.<\/span><\/p>\n
