Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has joined Nottinghamshire for a third stint as an overseas player ahead of the 2022 summer season.<\/p>\n
Pattinson actually holds a British passport with his brother Darren born in Grimsby, also previously playing for Nottinghamshire, his father having played as a junior many years ago for Nottingham Forest too.<\/p>\n
The Victoria born pace man who has 21 test appearances is in his 32nd<\/sup> year and with an economy rate of 15.52 during two previous spells at Notts, is sure to be a great addition once again to the bowling attack as the side look to gain promotion from the County Championship second division this season, after \u2018normal service\u2019 has been resumed in the league structure following shortened localised campaigns during the last couple of covid hit years.<\/p>\n Pattinson who played for Notts in 2017 and 2019, scoring the winning runs in the Royal London Cup final at Lords v Surrey in his first season, stated \u201cTrent Bridge felt like home from the moment I first stepped through the gates.<\/p>\n \u201cTo arrive here and be met by a group of guys that made me so welcome from minute dot was pretty special, and I\u2019m looking forward to getting back amongst them again.<\/p>\n \u201cThe bowling group did some special things last season. Hopefully I can add something to that and help the club enjoy some success in the coming years.<\/p>\n \u201cOnce I get that badge back on my chest and the ball in my hand, there\u2019ll be no backward steps taken for sure. It\u2019ll be a case of ripping into the season and giving it everything to win matches for the club.\u201d<\/p>\n Pattinson will rejoin the side ahead of the summer with Head Coach Peter Moores stating \u201cJimmy will add a new dimension with his pace, hostility and experience. He\u2019s someone our young players can benefit from spending time with and he adds more depth and quality to our bowling group, which we know is really important.\u201d<\/p>\n One of those young players mentioned by Moores is England U19 international Fateh Singh. The 17-year-old left arm spinner has been recently called up for England\u2019s squad to compete in the U19 World Cup in the Caribbean which starts today.<\/p>\n England face Bangladesh in their opener on Sunday before playing Canada two days later and the UAE on Thursday with Singh saying ahead of the tournament \u201cThe spinning wickets are in my favour and gave me confidence going into warm up games. The nets have spun, so they have been good to bowl on. It\u2019s been challenging to alter where I pitch the ball to factor in the wind, but I\u2019m feeling good.\u201d<\/p>\n
