Nottingham based boxer Ekow Essuman (18-0) beat Londoner Samuel Antwi (14-2) to reclaim his three belts on the undercard of the James Joyce v Joseph Parker bout in Manchester last night.<\/p>\n
In a classic scrap to start the evening shown live on BT Sport pay-per-view, the Engine outworked and outboxed his resilient opponent to pick up a unaminous decision on points.<\/p>\n
Essuman who holds the BBBofC British Welterweight title, as well as Commonwealth and IBF European belts, was caught a couple of times early doors by Antwi in a classic contest, but shown his championship credentials as the fight went on, to dominate with more pressure and combinations that would edge him clear by the judges.<\/p>\n
The night\u2019s main event was also a cracking affair between Joyce and New Zealander Parker with the Brit winning by way of eleventh round knock out. Joyce (15-0) becoming the first man to stop Parker (30-3) who has also been in the ring with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.<\/p>\n
At Nottingham Arena, standing in for the injured Leigh Wood who was supposed to be main billing v Mauricio Lara for a world title bout, Maxi Hughes beat Kid Galahad by a majority decision in the main event to reclaim his IBO world lightweight title.<\/p>\n
Other bouts on the undercard included Terri Harper and Hannah Rankin which saw Harper become WBA Super-welterweight champion in the women\u2019s division, whilst there were wins for the unbeaten fledglings, Cyrus Pattinson, Solomon Dacres, Cheavon Clarke, Rhiannon Dixon, Junaid Bostain and Mohammed Sameer.<\/p>\n
