After back to back shootout wins were followed by disappointment in the Challenge Cup on Saturday night, Nottingham Panthers were back in action last night and enjoyed their equal most comprehensive win of the campaign – a 6-2 defeat of Glasgow Clan.<\/p>\n
Having beat the Clan 3-2 in Scotland thanks to a shootout last Wednesday, Nottingham played part in a thrilling Challenge Cup group game against Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, eventually losing 7-4 after a first period 3-2 lead and being level going into the last minute of the second period.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday however, back in Elite League action, Nottingham were comprehensive, leading from the front as Jordan Kelsall netted before Tanner Sorenseon doubled home advantage.<\/p>\n
Gary Haden did reduce the defecit to one at the end of the first quarter before Steven McParland levelled things up again early in the second, thereafter Nottingham ran away, to strike through Mike Hammond and Brett Welychka ahead of the third.<\/p>\n
Leading 4-2 in the final twenty, Tanner Sorensen netted his second of the night, early in the third to ease any nerves of Glasgow getting back in the game, and to round things off, late on, Matthew Myers netted after good work from Craig Puffer and Mike Caruso.<\/p>\n
The win takes Nottingham up to seventh in the table, on eight points from nine games, the Panthers well behind early pace setters Guildford Flames who lead the way with 21 points from 12, ahead of Sheffield in second, who Nottingham again face at the weekend, in the Challenge Cup in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n
After the Steelers trip on Saturday night, Nottingham return to the Elite League where they’ll host Cardiff Devils on Sunday, the Welsh side currently third in the division level on points with Sheffield, six below Guildford on fifteen from ten played.<\/p>\n
