Mansfield Town have had a satisfactory Christmas under their new Manager Graham Couhglan but the Stags had still struggled to turn draws into wins that was before their New Years victory at Cambridge United.<\/p>\n
Since sacking John Dempster the Stags were held by playoff hopefuls Northampton in Coughlan\u2019s first game before drawing 2-2 with Port Vale at Field Mill. The Stags were beaten on Boxing Day 2-0 at Bradford City but won their first game in nine matches and secured their first league win since October as they beat ten men Cambridge 3-2 at the Abbey Stadium to start 2020 with three points.<\/p>\n
The Stags fell behind to an early Knibbs strike but Nicky Maynard levelled before Taylor gave the U\u2019s a half time advantage on the stroke of the whistle.<\/p>\n
Reggie Lambe however was sent off for Cambridge early on in the second half and that changed the game in the Stags favour with Maynard levelling on 71 before completing his hat-trick ten minutes later to record Coughlan his first win in charge.<\/p>\n
After the match Coughlan stated \u201cNow it\u2019s about consistency. We won today because we were the better team and we have to build on it.”<\/p>\n
He said \u201cOverall I\u2019m really pleased \u2013 not with results \u2013 but the last four performances have been excellent. The results will follow if we carry on playing like that.”<\/p>\n
