Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club have signed young Worcestershire batter Jack Haynes on a three year deal from the start of the 2024 season.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old has a first class average of 34.91 with an even better List A ave at 42.63 and T20 batting figures at 23.06.<\/p>\n
Worcester born Haynes, son of former professional cricketer Gavin, has played 42 first class matches and will add depth to the Notts batting department, an area which they’ve struggled in this season in the County Championship.<\/p>\n
On signing for the club, Haynes stated \u201cI\u2019m really excited to move to Nottinghamshire. Trent Bridge is always a place I\u2019ve loved coming to as a player; the club has a great feel about it, and the facilities and pitch are conducive to helping me develop as a cricketer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I sat down with Pete Moores and Ant Botha, they were both passionate about the direction of this squad, and how I can fit into it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m under no illusion that it\u2019ll take hard work to nail down a place in the side and continue to grow in all formats, but Notts have a track record of taking on players and improving them to help them reach their potential.\u201d<\/p>\n
Notts were beaten in their most recent league game against Hampshire at home but face Kent at Trent Bridge today and will hope that victory can pull them away from any slim threat of relegation and secure their status amongst the countries elite for another year in the red ball format.<\/p>\n
Notts recently signed New Zealand international Will Young on a short term deal and also announced Haynes fellow Worcestershire team-mates, Josh Tongue and Dillon Pennington would be arriving next season, Tongue a fast powerful bowler who’s an England international whilst Pennington is a tall rangy quick paced seamer, both will add pace to the Trent Bridge side.<\/p>\n
