British players enjoyed a fruitful week at the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre, with home favourites going home with all four titles at the first of two weeks of events forming the Lexus British Pro Series Nottingham.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lily Miyazaki and Anton Matusevich claimed the women\u2019s W35 and men\u2019s M25 singles titles respectively; Miyazaki\u2019s title her first since March 2024, whilst Matusevich continued his strong start to 2026 with his third ITF singles title, and fourth overall. Miyazaki faced fellow Brit and seventh seed Emily Appleton for the title, and set the tone by winning the opening five games of the first set. After sealing the first set 6-3, two crucial games in the middle of the second set went the way of Miyazaki, allowing the second seed to go on and seal the title with a 6-3 6-3 win.<\/p>\n

Matusevich nearly didn\u2019t make it past the first round after being a set and a break down in his opening match, but after pulling through the scare, the 24-year-old found his form, not dropping another set en-route to the final, where he faced former Wimbledon Boys\u2019 Singles champion and second seed Henry Searle. The pair could hardly be separated, with both sets going to tie breaks, and after winning the first set, Matusevich saved three set points in the second tiebreak, before sealing the win at the second attempt for a 7-6(6) 7-6(9) victory.<\/p>\n

After her win, Lily Miyazaki said,\u00a0\u201cIt was a great week. Coming into it I had quote low expectations so didn\u2019t know how it was going to go, but really delighted with the win.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0Reflecting on his week, Matusevich said,\u00a0\u201cThe week has been very up and down, some very difficult matches, especially the first match and the final. I\u2019d never actually played well at Nottingham before, so I\u2019m very happy to get the win!\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

In the women\u2019s doubles, British pair Freya Christie and Eden Silva continued their hot streak, with a second title in as many weeks after victory in Roehampton the week before. After coming through a match tiebreak in their quarter final, second seeds Christie and Silva kicked up a gear, and dominated their semi final and final, dropping just five games, including a comprehensive 6-1 6-0 win over top seeds Aneta Laboutkova and Kristina Novak in the final. In the men\u2019s doubles, Joe Tyler claimed his first title of the year with Bosnian partner Nemanja Malesevic, defeating the American Pair of Alex Jones and Miles Jones.<\/p>\n

LTA Tournament Director Jen Hodgkiss said,\u00a0\u201cWeek one of the Lexus British Pro Series in Nottingham delivered a standout week of tennis, with British players claiming both singles titles, along with further home success in the doubles. Nottingham Tennis Centre has been an exceptional host, and it has been fantastic to see international players not only competing at a high level on court, but also enjoying everything the city has to offer off it.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

International tournaments such as the Lexus British Pro Series Nottingham are part of the LTA\u2019s Performance Competitions Calendar (PCC) which provides significantly enhanced opportunities for British players at each age and stage of the performance player pathway on home soil. The calendar is designed to provide comprehensive opportunities for British players to play, earn ranking points and win prize money at home, throughout the year. The ITF action remains in Nottingham for another week as the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre plays host to a second joint ITF W35\/M25 event.<\/p>\n

Iva Jovic Confirmed for Lexus Nottingham Open<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As ITF action continues this week, attention also turns to the Lexus Nottingham Open this June, as American rising star Iva Jovic confirmed for the WTA 250 event today by the LTA.<\/p>\n

Currently ranked 17 in the world, the 18-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to 2026, reaching a career-high singles ranking of 16. Jovic has reached the final of the WTA 250 Hobart, two WTA semi-finals in Charleston and Auckland, and the quarter finals of a grand slam for the first time, reaching the last eight at the Australian Open before falling to Aryna Sabalenka. Jovic claimed her first WTA title at the WTA 500 Guadalajara in Mexico last September, and in doing so, became the youngest singles champion of the season, aged just 17 years and 283 days. She also found success on British grass last season, claiming her first WTA 125 title at the Lexus Ilkley Open<\/p>\n
