As the rising waters of the River Trent continues from the aftermath of Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis a number of sports clubs across Nottinghamshire have been hugely affected with unplayable pitches and flooded club houses likely to disrupt action for many weeks to come.<\/p>\n

Newark Rugby Club are one of those sporting teams who\u2019s pitches are covered in water from the bursting banks of the nearby Trent and only dry weather now can relieve some of the strain caused with facilities likely to be out of bounds for the foreseeable.<\/p>\n

Typically British and in a no nonsense Rugby Union style however, those at Newark in face of adversity just want to \u2018get on with it\u2019 and have already arranged for their next few home fixtures to be played at Magnus School starting on Saturday verses Loughborough with a 2.15pm kick off.<\/p>\n

For Newark it is already the second time this season that their pitch lays under water, but the club have acted quickly to ensure their league matches go ahead as usual.<\/p>\n

Further along down the Trent to the West, Moderns Rugby Club at Wilford has been also exposed to some severe flooding from the Trent with some of the sports grounds including Dunkirk FC and Nottingham Outlaws Rugby League at Lenton Lane inaccessible due to the residual water around the area.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Casuals Rugby Club who play at Beeston Weir have also reported flooding stating that there is \u201cnot a chance of training or playing\u201d although anyone wanting to chip in and help out is told to \u201cget yer wellies out for a bit of cleaning up later in the week and sorting the containers\u201d.<\/p>\n

Any football clubs effected by the storms and that are needing help are urged to contact the Notts FA by emailing leanne.woodhead@nottinghamshirefa.com<\/a> who will be able to assist.<\/p>\n
