Hucknall Town Football Club\u2019s potential move to Aerial Way is edging closer after planning application from Lidl, who want to build on the existing Watnall Road site, has now been formally submitted to Ashfield District Council.<\/p>\n
The German Supermarket chain are looking to develop in place of the existing Hucknall Town ground and if successful it is likely that the club will move the short distance across the road to a new site where works have already started and in doing so will secure the long term future of the club.<\/p>\n
Originally works started on the new ground off Aerial Way in 2015 with Hucknall hoping to be in by the 2017\/18 season but delays to the sale of the Watnall Road site has led to the side staying on at their long term home for much longer than expected.<\/p>\n
The new venue will have a superior clubhouse and a brand-new pitch with modern facilities that will be an improvement on the now tired looking home the East Midlands Counties League side are currently at.<\/p>\n
Excited by the move Hucknall Town Chairman Bob Scotney stated \u201cThis stadium will be a hub for football and other events within Hucknall and the surrounding area.\u201d<\/p>\n

“We hope that the application is a success so we can move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
The decision by Ashfield District Council is set to be made by the end of August and if Lidl get the green light it could see Hucknall make their move soon after.<\/p>\n
