{"id":4374,"date":"2020-06-29T15:16:20","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T15:16:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nottinghamsport.com\/?p=4374"},"modified":"2020-06-29T15:16:20","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T15:16:20","slug":"cricket-set-to-start-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nottinghamsport.com\/index.php\/2020\/06\/29\/cricket-set-to-start-in-august\/","title":{"rendered":"Cricket Set To Start In August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>County Cricket is set to return in August after the ECB today confirmed the scheduled delayed start to a revised domestic campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The fixture schedule is set to be confirmed in July but it looks likely that cricket will return from the 1<sup>st<\/sup> August with a full ECB statement available on Nottinghamshire CCC\u2019s website available to read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trentbridge.co.uk\/news\/2020\/june\/county-cricket-set-for-august-return.html?utm_customersegment=&amp;utm_source=Twitter&amp;utm_medium=Organic+Social&amp;utm_campaign=SocialSignIn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In brief the ECB state that it has given its approval for the professional mens county cricket season to start on 1<sup>st<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n<p>The formats to be played during the delayed men\u2019s county season are due to be agreed by the 18 First-Class Counties in early July, with a new fixture schedule to be published thereafter.<\/p>\n<p>A commitment to play women\u2019s domestic cricket in 2020 has also been made, but may differ from the planned rollout of the new women\u2019s elite domestic structure.<\/p>\n<p>The ECB state \u201cPreparation and planning for the season across the men\u2019s and women\u2019s domestic game remains subject to ongoing advice from Government and medical professionals with the safety of players, staff and officials the first priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This comes as great news after a near total wipe out of the nations favourite summer sport following the coronavirus lockdown imposed.
