The first round of the Carabao sponsored Football League Cup has been made today with Nottingham Forest drawn against Barnsley at Oakwell in a match-up that might bring back disappointing memories for fans wanting to forget what happened in the two teams last outing in June.<\/p>\n
As Forest needed just a point to secure a playoff slot in their seasons penultimate game they fell to a stoppage time loss before losing 4-1 at home to Stoke with Barnsley eventually staying up thanks to their own made miracle in taking six points from their final two games.<\/p>\n
Mansfield Town will also feature in the Carabao Cup and they head to Deepdale as the Stags face Preston North End of the Championship with all first round ties scheduled to take place over the first weekend in September.<\/p>\n
As well as finding out their League Cup opponents Mansfield also discovered their Football League Trophy destiny today as they were placed in a group that includes Lincoln City, Scunthorpe United and Manchester City under 21s in the Northern Section of the competition.<\/p>\n
