Nottingham Panthers star forward Julian Talbot has hung up his hockey skates after deciding to call it a day following the Elite Hockey League\u2019s failure to resume post covid-19.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old Canadian only joined the Panthers in October 2019 but soon shown his quality with 15 goals and 15 assists (30pts) in 33 EIHL games for the club and 37 points in 45 games in total which included a trip to the Continental Cup Finals where Nottingham came second.<\/p>\n
The former AHL star neared 20 years in the game but without a match since March has decided to call time on a career that has taken him from Canada & the USA to Germany, Austria and the UK succeeding at almost every club he\u2019s been at.<\/p>\n
Panthers Director of Hockey Gui Doucet was sad to see Talbot leave stating \u201cHe\u2019s a good guy and a gentleman and a competitor. He was a go-to guy for face-offs especially in key moments.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe told me his kids are about to start school and with everything else that\u2019s going on in the world at the moment now was a good time to hang them up. We wish him well and thank him for all his efforts last season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Talbot joins a number of players who are set to leave Nottingham Panthers with the Elite League season in turmoil post coronavirus with no news on allowing spectators back in to indoor venues from the UK government.<\/p>\n
The likes of Adam Deutsch, Georgs Golovkovs and Josh Tetlow have all been touted with clubs in Scandanavia likely to be a destination even if just for a temporary fix.<\/p>\n
