\u201cIrrespective of the area you live in, a little bit really does go a long way. So, if you can go out there and help, please, do so.\u201d Olivia Cook, Nottingham Forest Women.<\/em><\/p>\n

Olivia Cook and Mai Moncaster have been instrumental in helping out their local Christian charity, Hope Nottingham, in recent months, so much so that both parties were surprised as to how much food and toiletries was being delivered to the Beeston-based church and community group.<\/p>\n

An initiative that had been brought to the fore by Manchester United and England striker, 23-year-old Marcus Rashford MBE was picked upon locally by Nottingham Forest Women players, defender Olivia Cook, and midfielder Mai Moncaster.<\/p>\n

And all because of a post they\u2019d happened across on social media.<\/p>\n

Aware of the fact that the main, Nottingham Forest umbrella had a long-standing relationship with the charity, Cook and Moncaster decided to that extra mile themselves, and boy were they surprised with the response.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d literally seen and shared a post on Facebook and Liv said to me, right there and then, that should get together and see what we can do,\u201d began Mai.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the first time we\u2019ve actually done anything like this and afterwards we felt very humbled with what we achieved.”<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth our cars were full with the amount that we had and the charity, and ourselves, were very surprised with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having both arrived at the City Ground early last season they fast became aware as to the camaraderie, and close-knit nature the Forest Women have developed within their set-up.<\/p>\n

It is that camaraderie, and unity, which the duo tapped into to help achieve their goal, whilst knowing how important it was, with their respective standings in society, to help out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we spoke to Ben White (Nottingham Forest Media and Communications Manager) he mentioned Hope Nottingham as they do fundraising for them through the men\u2019s section,\u201d continued Liv.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing suit with what Marcus (Rashford) started, we\u2019re all doing our collective bit to help out and it\u2019s important that we stepped up and can rely on our unity, as a team, to help other out.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIt meant a lot to us to be able to do that as it\u2019s not just about us wearing the badge, it\u2019s about being there for one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, with that first fundraising drive done, thoughts have already turned to what happens next, over the winter, festive season.<\/p>\n

Having already proved to be a big difference maker this time around, Nottingham Forest Women are looking to take it one step further when it comes to Christmas time and see what they can do then, with more time on their side.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe managed to get all the players, and the coaching staff, involved this time around,\u201d insisted Mai, \u201cand we didn\u2019t know what to expect with that.”<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, with the next one, we guess the more that can help, the better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a peak time of the year,\u201d Liv continued, \u201cand we\u2019ve looked at different suggestions already, even something like a toy drive, but done in a similar vein to this.”<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst we\u2019ll look at the foodbanks, then into the supermarkets, and see what we can do as a club to help out when it\u2019s needed the most.\u201d<\/p>\n
