Haseeb Hameed has been rewarded for a magnificent first season at Trent Bridge by agreeing to sign a new contract that will see him stay at Nottinghamshire until 2022 whilst club captain Steven Mullaney extends his ten year stint for a further three years by agreeing an extension until 2023.<\/p>\n
For Mullaney, captain since 2017 after joining from Lancashire in 2010, with over 10,000 runs and near 300 wickets in 372 games across all formats green and gold,\u00a0 he said \u201cI\u00a0can\u2019t imagine playing for any other county.\u201d<\/p>\n
Continuing \u201cSimply playing for Notts was enough of an honour \u2013 so to have won five trophies so far, and to have become captain of such an historic club, are achievements that will stay with me forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere have been so many changes in my time here \u2013 not least among the playing staff \u2013 and I\u2019m\u00a0really excited to be leading the talented, dedicated bunch of players we have now assembled.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m more motivated than ever to help this side develop in the red ball game \u2013 and to continue our great record in white-ball cricket as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hameed has been part of that development in the red ball game that has seen performances, if not results, improve in 2020 and after a decent return of 38.85 with the bat in the Bob Willis Trophy, the former Lancs and England youngster still only 23, is looking to kick on at a home he\u2019s settled into quickly.<\/p>\n
Hameed stated \u201cPlaying for Notts is everything to me now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLast winter after leaving Lancashire, I took my time to decide which was the right club for me. It\u2019s a decision I wanted to get just right, to find a county I could be passionate about playing for and to make it a long and successful association with one club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Notts Head Coach Peter Moores has been impressed with the way Hameed has settles stating \u201cHe hit the ground running with his work ethic and the intensity of his training, and he gelled with his teammates very quickly.”<\/p>\n
\u201cHe formed an opening partnership with Ben Slater that looked really promising for us as a team moving forward.”<\/p>\n
\u201cHe played positively and looked to score, but also showed the resilience to soak up pressure, bat for periods of time, wear the opposition bowlers down and make life more comfortable for his teammates in the middle order.”<\/p>\n
