More flat racing today at Southwell Racecourse and in slightly warmer conditions than there was on Tuesday afternoon too, as French jockey Pierre-Louis Jamin came home first in the first race of the day on Shallow Hal a 5\/1 shot trained by Karl Burke.<\/p>\n

The Class 3, 6 furlong and 16 yard race, the Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap<\/em> saw Gabriel The Devil ridden by Connor Murtagh, lead until the final 100 yards before Shallow Hal came into his own to take glory, the gelding\u2019s second win at Southwell in five outings.<\/p>\n

Race two and over the same distance, saw the 13:40 Betway Novice Stakes won by favourite Whittle Le Woods for Trainer Michael Dods and Jockey Paul Mulrennon.<\/p>\n

The third race of the day saw a hat-trick for one of Tuesday\u2019s winners Daafr, ridden by Cam Hardie for Alan Brittain, the five-year-old winning his third race in a row on the fibresand at Southwell having also won on the 19th<\/sup> of this month, this time a little more than the 7f14y he raced in the previous two, to win over 1m and 13y in the Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Handicap.<\/p>\n

3-year-old colt, Albadri, got the new year off to a winning start in the 14:45 after coming home for Jane Chappell-Hyam ridden by Hollie Doyle ahead of Michael Appleby\u2019s Apatite in second of a competitive four horse race that included Marage Mac and Fabilis whilst Rafiot beat 16\/1 shot Thawry to claim the 1m4f14y Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap.<\/p>\n

Rhys Clutterbuck the jockey coming home for a horse that finished in the top three of his last three races at Lingfield over similar distance.<\/p>\n

Finally in the last two races of the day\u2026 Ornate, won the 15:55 for David Griffiths ridden by Phil Dennis whilst Qaarat went one better than he did on Tuesday to win the 4f214y Betway Casino Handicap as Cam Hardie and Alan Brittain picked up their second success of the day.<\/p>\n
