Blake Double Gives Carlton Point

The biggest news last night was that there was a game of football at the Bill Stokeld Stadium after several postponements in recent weeks due to the bad weather might have put folk off attending the match between Carlton Town and Chasetown.

Only 94 were in attendance at Stoke Lane witnessing this cracker in the Northern Premier League South East Division with struggling Chasetown 18th in the division above only Wisbech and Market Drayton, took the lead through Liam Kirton on 22 minutes.

Tyler Blake levelled things up six minutes before half time but after the break Jack Langstone restored the away sides advantage three minutes into the second half, the Staffordshire based visitors however failed to hang on as Blake netted his second of the night on 73 minutes to earn the Millers a share of the spoils as Carlton stay in sixth just three points from the playoff zone but with four games in hand on Stocksbridge Park Steels in fifth.

In the Northern Counties East League Division One it wasn’t a great night for Ollerton Town who lost 3-1 at Harrogate Railway Athletic.

In the East Midlands Counties League title race Dunkirk and Eastwood shared four goals at the Riverside after the Red Badgers came back from 2-0 down to level the match. Tyrell Shannon Lewis gave the Boatmen the lead from the spot on 23 before Frederick-Fitzhugh netted on the stroke of half time.

Two goals in two minutes however helped second placed Eastwood to maintain their four point gap on Dunkirk in third after first Joe Harrison on 72 then Fabian Smith on 74 squared things up.

Elsewhere Rainworth Miners Welfare drew 2-2 with Radford whilst West Bridgford were beaten at home 2-0 against Barrow Town.

Tonight’s action includes a cracking Notts Senior FA Cup tie between Teversal and Nottingham Forest U23’s at Carnarvon Street whilst in the Midland League Selston take on Walsall Wood.

In the NCEL AFC Mansfield travel to Albion Sports whilst the EMCL involves Gedling Miners Welfare who visit Derbyshire based Heanor Town and Clipstone who travel to Ingles in Leicestershire.
