Fletcher Heads Home

Nottinghamshire fast bowler Luke Fletcher is to join Papplewick & Linby Cricket Club who he’ll represent in the Owzat Notts Premier League when he’s not in action for his county side.

Fletcher originally started his junior career at P&L and those that have been in the clubhouse at the idyllic Papplewick Hall ground over the years will have noticed the Notts bowlers name all over the record boards for the Senior side too.

The fun, loveable and very popular cricketer has been an icon at Trent Bridge in recent years, affectionately known as the Bulwell Bomber the Nottingham born star has always stayed close to his roots and has been a regular back at the Hall when not on duty for Notts.

Now aged 31, Fletcher initially progressed through the Junior and Senior teams at Papplewick & Linby before turning professional with Notts where he’s played over 100 first class matches taking 343 wickets at an average of 28.14. With a further 160 wickets in List A and T20 matches Fletch also has a County Championship title and Royal London One Day Cup winners medal to his name.

The bowler is not short of Notts Premier League experience either and will be a fruitful addition to the P&L team as they face Caythorpe in the seasons opener this Saturday.

With new safety measures in place the Notts Premier League finally gets underway after a long delayed start due to the outbreak of coronavirus and this weekend will provide many players with much needed time at the crease or on the field hence why Fletcher is hoping to dust off the cobwebs before the County Championship sides are back in action come August.

In a shortened season the Notts Premier League will be split into two groups of North and South with the top two in each reaching the semi-finals and final which will be played in September.
