Semis Sorted For Dan Sutton Trophy
The Dan Sutton Trophy Semi-Final stage has been finalised after both groups of the Owzat Nottinghamshire Premier League concluded at the weekend with Radcliffe-on-Trent topping the south and Kimberley Institute finishing top of the north after ten games of maximum 40 over cricket.
Squashed into little over six weeks the group stages were a huge success as we go into the semi-finals this Saturday with 12pm starts as runners-up of the north Papplewick & Linby travel to south winners Radcliffe whilst Cavaliers and Carrington who finished second in the south group visit Kimberley.
A place in the final at Hucknall CC is very much at stake for the winners with the trophy up for grabs on Saturday 19th September with a reserve day set for bad weather on Sunday 20th.
On Saturday Radcliffe’s match with Cavs was cancelled with both sides earning two points each with Wollaton beating bottom of the table Clifton Village to finish third in the South Group and Plumtree beating Attenborough to go fourth.
Batting first at the Strand Attenborough managed 169/9 from their 40 overs with Ben Shaw hitting 51 against some good bowling which included 5 wickets for 38 by Callum Dring.
In reply Plumtree reached target with four balls and four wickets to spare. Saad Ashraf hitting 52 from just 62 balls the pick of the bunch.
At Clifton it was Wollaton who batted first, scoring a healthy 192 all out with five overs still to play. Opener Daniel Andrew hit 70 with Liam Andrews taking 4/37. In response Clifton were all out for 104 with Andrews himself scoring 42 as Zain Latif (4/30) & Nicky Kirkwood (3/16) did largely the damage.
In the North Group leaders Kimberley hit 200/9 at Cuckney with Martin Weightman scoring 89 before the hosts were bowled out for just 98 as young Nottinghamshire bowler Liam Patterson-White took 4/23.
Thanks to that defeat by Cuckney, second place went to Papplewick & Linby after beating bottom of the table Mansfield Hosiery Mills who were bowled out for just 96. P&L reaching their target after 28.5 overs and with eight wickets to spare.
Finally Hucknall finished their season with a win as they 205/7 en route to beating Caythorpe. Sam Johnson hit 79 whilst Sam Wood scored 77 with Caythorpe bowled out for 110 with Wood also taking three wickets in a man of the match performance.
A reminder that the semi-finals are this Saturday at 12pm with a reserve day set for the Sunday should weather effect play.
