Hughton Replaces Lamouchi
The Nottingham Forest merry-go-round of Managers continues. After 29 minutes of announcing the sacking of Sabri Lamouchi, the club have immediately announced that Chris Hughton is the new Manager with the London born Irishman taking on responsibilities to progress the team in a way they for so long looked to be heading under the Frenchman.
Hughton, a former Tottenham Hotspur full back of over 300 games and Republic of Ireland International, lead Newcastle United to the Premier League winning the Football League Championship with The Geordies in 2009/10 and also got Brighton & Hove Albion out of the Championships with promotion in 2016/17.
As a Manager, Hughton has a reasonable Premier League record but an outstanding Championship record which is why the Forest owners have eyed him up for some time as a replacement for Lamouchi.
Sacked by Brighton in 2019 he was replaced by Graham Potter. Hughton’s style often gets scrutinised as solid and defensive but whilst in the North East he won a title scoring ninety goals along the way to emphasise with the right blend of players his teams can impress in attack.
Hughton’s immediate dossier will be to provide Forest with their first win of the season and to edge them out of the relegation zone whilst hopefully being not too late to push the side back towards the Playoffs as Sabri almost did last season.
