Notts v Stockport Off By Covid

The National League season is becoming one of frustration for Notts County who after three weeks without a game following a number of their own players coming down with covid it is now the turn of one of their opponents and that of Stockport County who have now requested to postpone Wednesdays match at Meadow Lane after confirming at least one of their players have had a positive result.

The match was supposed to pit Notts verses the second best team in the division thus far and was a game that Manager Neal Ardley would have hoped could help relinquish the side effects of defeat at the weekend verses Aldershot.

On Saturday Notts were out of sorts against Aldershot and not surprising either, the Magpies last match played on October 17th was one without a few regulars which they lost to Maidenhead after a bout of covid ripped through the squad on the eve of their match which in the end they lost.

After pulling out of the FA Cup and postponing two matches, Notts returned to action on Saturday and hoped that would be the start of a return to regular games, but Wednesdays latest postponement is one that questions whether the National League should even have gone ahead in the first place.

Notts will now face Halifax in eight days time, the Magpies next match in the National League whilst club CEO stated “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this potential outbreak and we wish Stockport a safe and speedy return to action.”

“We welcome the early notice of this decision and will now turn our attentions to our next scheduled match, away at FC Halifax Town next Tuesday.”
