Stags Draw Daggers In Cup

Mansfield Town have drawn Dagenham & Redbridge in the second round of the FA Cup after beating Sunderland on Saturday gone, they will now host the Londoners over the weekend starting Friday 27th November 2020 at Field Mill.

The Daggers are currently bottom of the National League but caused their own giant-killing upset over the weekend after beating Grimsby Town 3-1 on Saturday to send Darryl McMahon’s side through in the cup and they’ll now face a trip to West Notts in a bid to reach round three.

Nigel Clough’s side were impressive against Sunderland as the new Manager watched from the stands at the weekend and Clough who has good pedigree in cup competitions will kick his own campaign in the dugout off tonight as Mansfield travel to Scunthorpe in the EFL Trophy’s final group match.

The Stags are already out of the competition after losing to both Manchester City U21’s and Lincoln City so Clough will use this game as ideal preparation for Saturday as his new team travel south to Forest Green at the weekend in a tough League Two encounter against the third best team in the division right now.

Tonight Clough may look at one or two players on the fringe of his considered squad as he looks to rest those who worked tirelessly in the win at the Stadium of Light with one eye on league matters and getting three points at the weekend.

With Scunthorpe also out of contention to progress in the EFL Cup the battle to avoid the wooden spoon in Group 5 is all to play for with the Stags choosing the following squad to take in the trip to Glanford Park.

Full Squad: Marek Stech, Aidan Stone, Rollin Menayese, Ryan Sweeney, Corey O’Keeffe, Aaron O’Driscoll, Jason Law, James Clarke, Kellan Gordon, Aiden Walker, Alistair Smith, Ollie Clarke, Harry Charsley, Tyrese Sinclair, Nathan Caine, Jamie Reid, Jordan Bowery, Andy Cook.
