Lapslie Agrees Permanent Switch

George Lapslie has been outstanding for Mansfield Town this season following his loan move from Charlton Athletic and quick to realise that, the club have acted to ensure that the 23-year-old London born midfielder will stay for a little longer yet.

The player has signed on a permanent transfer after the two clubs agreed a disclosed fee for Mansfield to take his services on a two-and-a-half-year deal, signed and sealed with a signature by the player, pleased as punch with securing his future in North West Notts yesterday.

Lapslie has been a revelation since signing and has linked up with the likes of Harry Charsley, George Maris and Ollie Clarke to form a formidable midfield quartet and with six goals in twenty games so far this season the player has been one of the Stags stand out performers.

The goal against Sunderland, one that stands out as a matchwinner that knocked out the Black Cats in the FA Cup first round, one that will live fondly in the memories of many Stags supporters in years to come.

Since Nigel Clough took over, other than missing Scunthorpe in the Football League Trophy’s dead rubber game, Lapslie has played every minute of every match under his Manager who praised the players attitude and ability stating “We think he can improve in his time with us and I think the biggest factor in his signing for us is that he is enjoying his football.”

Lapslie on signing said himself “Mansfield is the place I want to be. There are a lot of ‘pulls’ here. It’s a real family club and I’m really happy here. I’ve fallen back in love with the game in many ways.”

“The gaffer was a big draw to me signing permanently. He’s given me a freedom to express myself and allow me to get into the box.”

“I’m delighted it’s done. I can’t wait to ‘crack on’ now.”

Lapslie is likely to feature against Southend United as the Stags look for a fourth straight league win on Saturday in Essex whilst the match with Bolton Wanderers at Field Mill next Tuesday has been brought forward to a 7pm kick off.

Yesterday the clubs under 18’s were in action against Burton Albion in the EFL Youth Alliance, winning 3-1 with two goals for Nathan Caine and a Diego Edwards strike securing victory.
