Notts Back With Major Signings
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club will play their first match of the year at Trent Bridge tomorrow as they host Oxford University in a friendly encounter to be played over three days.
The match will be available to stream online through the Trent Bridge website from 11am and the club have agreed to show all home matches on its website during the 2021 season, whilst the BBC will again offer radio coverage having signed a new 4 year deal with the ECB this week.
More good news for Notts fans is that Dan Christian will return to the T20 fold as captain this summer whilst South African fast bowler Dane Paterson also joins as the clubs overseas player.
31-year-old right armer Paterson has 14 caps for South Africa and in the words of Coach Peter Moores “adds quality and experience to our squad” whilst the 37-year-old Australian International Christian will lead the Outlaws defence of their Vitality Blast after spending the winter in his home country where he helped the Sydney Sixes to the Big Bash title, his ninth major white ball success from cricket competitions across the globe.
On announcing his return, Christian stated “I’ve made some great friends during my time at Trent Bridge and feel really at home playing for Notts, which has definitely helped me to perform in the style that I want to.”
Christian furthered “As captain, it’s a pleasure to lead a team which covers so many bases, and a squad with such a strong depth of talent.”
The Vitality Blast season starts on 9th June 2021 against Worcestershire Rapids but before that, the County Championship campaign kicks off on the 8th April at home to Durham.
