Forest Sign Goalkeeper
Nottingham Forest have made their first summer signing as the club have captured the services of American International goalkeeper Ethan Horvath who since 2016 has been playing in the Belgian Pro League with Club Brugge.
The 26-year-old shot stopper originally of Colorado, trained with Bristol City, Manchester City and Stoke City as a youngster and has Hungarian ancestry on his fathers side.
In 2013 Horvath joined Molde in the Norwegian league after being recruited by then Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and as a back up to Orjan Nyland eventually went on to play 56 times, winning the Norwegian Premier League and Cup in 2014.
After joining Club Brugge in Belgium he played 15 times in the 2017/18 Championship winning season but lost his place when the club signed Simon Mignolet from Liverpool in 2019.
6ft3in Horvath who has played seven times for his country stated on signing “It feels great to be here. Nottingham Forest is such a historic club. I really like the stadium and training ground and the people have been fantastic. It’s a new challenge for me. I’m hoping all my experience can help Forest.”
“I’ve heard about the fans and the 30,000 crowds and that even when it’s not full, it’s loud.”
“The shirt carries a lot of history and I’m proud to be part of that history.”
Whilst Manager Chris Hughton on signing the goalkeeper said “We are delighted to be signing somebody of Ethan’s calibre. He has plenty of valuable experience in Europe with clubs of good pedigree and in European competition.
“He will give us valuable competition in the goalkeeping department and we look forward to working with Ethan.”
Horvath although the first major first team signing this summer for the club, isn’t the only goalkeeper through the door. The club have also signed 20 year old Nicky Hogarth from Rangers who will play for Andy Reid’s U23’s this season as he looks to continue his football graduation after his move from Scottish football where he most recently had a spell on loan with Cowdenbeath.
