NSL Back With The Goals
And just like that, the new season has begun again, as the Euro Soccer Company Nottinghamshire Senior League swung into action at the weekend.
Last seasons’, post season Premier Division cup winners, Bingham Town, opened their campaign with a 3-0 win away to FC Cavaliers, all three goals coming from Aaron Large, whilst a new-look Wollaton also scored three times away from home, they seeing off hosts Ravenshead, 3-1, thanks to goals from Luke Davis, Jorge Davis, and Ryan Pearson, Cole Hinchcliffe replying.
Of the two Derbyshire clubs. Ilkeston won 2-1 at home to Southwell City, whilst Stapleford Town, who finished with ten men, lost by the same score against visitors Woodthorpe Park Rangers, all three goals in the latter being scored in the first half.
With AFC Dunkirk won 1-0 at Sandiacre Town, the remaining three matches all finished in draws, Bilborough against Keyworth United ending 2-2, whilst Aslockton & Orston versus Awsworth Villa, and Cotgrave against Attenborough, ended 1-1.
The First Division would see Ryan Smith score twice in Radford Reserves’ 6-0 demolition of visitors Stapleford Town Reserves, goals also flowing from Vahid Amiri, Jordan Blair, Jay Davies, and Kamal Hughes.
West Bridgford, away to FC Geordie, and Gedling Southbank, home to Kimberley Miners Welfare, both scored four apiece, in a high-scoring opening day in the division. The former of the two, goalless at the interval, won 4-0, Devontei Gibson with a quick-fire, late brace, adding to goals from George Sansom, and Shea Gough, whilst in the latter, a 4-1 win over Kimberley, Gianfranco Ciaurro bagged himself a brace, Stephen Cox and Mason Coy also scoring.
The two remaining games would see Kirton Brickworks win 2-0 at home to Ruddington Village, and the game between Meden Vale Colts, and Pythian, finished in a high-scoring, 3-3 draw, Jake Smith with a brace for the hosts.
Division Two North, and South, meanwhile, would see two of their sides score seven goals as Bestwood Colliery, in the North, defeated visitors Phoenix Inham 7-1, as Jake Fisher scored four, and Kasey Fisher three, Marcus Peddie with the consolation late on.
Meanwhile, in Beeston, their Reserves were on the wrong end of a seven goal demolition, visitors AC United romping to a 7-0 win thanks to hat-tricks from Matthew Lucas and Courtney Valentine, substitute Joshua Osafo also registering.
And there was fifteen goals scored in the other three games in the South, Long Bennington winning 3-1 at home to East Leake Robins, Pass Move Grin Reserves edging hosts The Rossoneri 3-2, and Burton Joyce Senior Blue drew 3-3 with Fenwood Foxes, Kurt Hallam with a hat-trick for the Blue.
Rushcliffe also scored three times, in the other North game, as they defeated visiting Trent Vineyard 3-1, Kaine Reed affording an interval lead for the hosts, Trisztan Bonyai doubled it early in the second, and, although Daniel Harding pulled one back for the visitors, substitute Callum Price wrapped up the points at the death.
