County Earn Point In Wales

Wrexham 1-1 Notts County (National League) 30.08.21

It was another hard fought point against opposition expected to be in the promotion hunt as Notts County travelled across borders to share the spoils in North Wales.

A big call from Head Coach Burchnall who rested Rodrigues and Roberts and it might have backfired as goalkeeper Sam Slocombe was twice called upon in the opening minutes to save County from going a goal behind.

Notts improved though and Dion Kelly-Evans shot over on ten before Mitchell sent a testing cross into the area on sixteen, Wrexham had their chances in a flowing first half with Young firing high before the home side thought they had the lead but for the offside flag rescuing the Magpies.

A minute before half time however it was Notts who took the lead, Kyle Wootton with a bullet header, the striker keeping up his goal a game ratio with another one for his collection.

In the second half Davies went close for the hosts to responding firing in from the angle just wide before Palmer at the other end put in a telling free kick which evaded everyone, Mullin it was for Wrexham who returned the scores to level pegging, his header on 54 minutes bringing the homeside to back where they started.

It might have been better for Wrexham too, minutes later Mullin raced clear and tried to chip Slocombe who comfortably saved, Notts did bring on Roberts and Rodrigues but they couldn’t find a winner themselves, Taylor’s long throw in flicked wide by Wootton on 73 the best opportunity before Mullin blazed over for the Welshmen late on, in the end the points shared a respectable outcome for both sides, Notts certainly the happier out of the two in the end, a cracking advert for National League football.
