Forest Hit Six To Go Top

Hull City Ladies 0-6 Nottingham Forest Women (FA Womens National League North) 29.08.21

Nottingham Forest Women took over leadership, on goal difference, of the Women’s National League Premier Division, on Sunday afternoon, with a dominant, comfortable, six-goal demolition, of hosts Hull City Ladies.

Goalless at the interval, where chances were at the minimal, Andy Cook’s side turned up the pressure after the restart, firing home six without reply, including a brace from Jade Arber.

It would take nearly half-an-hour before the first, real chance of the game arrived when, after a number of half chances, Becky Anderson comes closest to opening the scoring when unleashing a half volley which rattles the hosts’ ‘keeper’s post, Abi Wallace though standing firm between the sticks.

Wallace would prove a tough nut to crack in the opening half, she seeing efforts from Freya Thomas, and a header from Jade Arber, stopped at the last, the latter brilliantly.

However, once the second half begun, it was, literally, all Forest, even more after the deadlock was broken within three minutes of the restart.

A devastating, ten minute-e spell saw the game go from being goalless, to 3-0, in the blink of an eye.

First Freya Thomas found the net for the opener, netting from a corner after 48 minutes, then Jade Arber slotted home after 54 minutes for the second; then, by the time the hour mark was reached it was three when, on 58, Charlotte Greengrass would score, also from a corner.

After netting three in ten, it would be another ten minutes having elapsed before Wallace’s goal would be breached for a fourth time as Rachel Brown added her name to the scoresheet, the lowly hosts devastated.

Head Coach, Andy Cook, made a double substitution with twenty to go, bringing on Mai Moncaster and Charlotte Steggles, five minutes later and the visitors were out of sight, adding a fifth goal through Rosie Axten before Arber wrapped up the six-goal demolition, with her second, eight minutes from time, emphatically volleying home.

Next up for Nottingham Forest Women, a trip to the Black Country and joint leaders, Wolverhampton Wanderers Women, on Sunday (5 September) afternoon.

Forest: Emily Batty, Charlotte Greengrass, Lyndsey Harkin (capt) (Mai Moncaster 70), Olivia Cook, Laura-Jayne O’Neill, Becky Anderson, Emily West (Charlotte Steggles 70), Freya Thomas, Rachel Brown, Jade Arber, Rosie Axten.
