Nottingham Strengthen Squad
Nottingham Rugby have signed four new players as well as putting pen to paper again on some of the existing roster ahead of the new season which starts later this month.
Matt Marsh, a 23-year-old scrum half who last season played Championship rugby for the Archers league rivals Ampthill joins with a potential league debut awaiting against his old club on the opening day of the campaign (18th September).
A former England Lion U16, Marsh has also played for the likes of Cardiff Met University and Exeter Chiefs as well as the South West Counties in his teenage years.
The club have also signed centre Elliott Creed, an experienced player at the level from his times at Doncaster, Gloucester, Hartpury and London Scottish.
Fly Half’s Elliott Bale and Morgan Bunting have also signed on at the Bay, Bale, now 29, most recently playing his rugby in France having previously played for Moseley, Plymouth Albion and Leicester Lions, whilst Bunting joins from Rotherham Titans and is just 21-years-old.
Nottingham were beaten at Coventry in a pre-season friendly at the weekend by fifty points, losing 60-10 and face Scarlets this weekend in an even tougher looking encounter at the Parc y Scarlets in South Wales on Saturday.
Agreeing terms to stay at the club from last season most recently includes Charlie Thacker, Michael Stronge, Theo Manihera and Sam Hollingsworth.
New Head Coach Craig Hammond who took over in the summer, stated on his clubs latest signings “We’re delighted to have these boys on-board for the upcoming season”.
“Our squad is really starting to take shape now and we’re just buzzing to get the season going.”
