Novey Goes Fishing – Portland Fishing Lakes

Evening All… Hope you’re all enjoying the double Bank holiday weekend.

Finally after a couple of disastrous trips a sunny Saturday welcomed the first Rich Tea club outing. Sunny Sibthorpe Portland fishery the venue.

Glorious sunshine welcomed us on a fine morning, Kingfisher Lake the preferred lake for the bragging rights to begin.

Road side peg 15 was the draw for the Novey. Bullrushes either side of the peg and plenty showing in front of me.

After a brew and a Rich Tea (Biscuit Of Choice) OBVS.

A lovely complex with 5/6 lakes of choice. Nice and quiet and not very busy for a Saturday. Look out for the Kite’s above the lakes, beautiful birds.

So on to tactics, the first hour I chose to fish the margin with a float rod around 5ft with a chunk of Luncheon meat. Two bites in quick succession in the first Ten minutes but nothing on the bank.

In came the rods for the World famous Rich Tea Belly Buster Breakfast Cob. Sausage, Bacon, Shrooms, Eggs on a Tiger Baguette with Brown and Mustard.

So back at it and a change of tactics as the sun kept on beating down on the lake. Pellet Waggler 20 or so yards out firing a few pellets out over the waggler. Hard work for 15/20 minutes as not much happened.

Then the swim came alive (Boooooom)

For the next 3/4 hours it was literally every cast. Carp Chubb Rudd Mirror F1. Non-stop. Even with the Thunder storm in between.

So thoughts on the complex, £6 for a day ticket.

Beautiful and quiet surroundings with plenty of lakes to choose from.

Nice clean toilets, very friendly staff, overall highly recommended.

Will definitely be back to check out the other lakes.

Until Then
