Tevie Win But Jackson Breaks Leg

The new season in the Camper UK Central Midlands Alliance kicked off under the Friday Night Lights this weekend as Teversal opposed hosts Glapwell.

Dave Turner’s Tevie side, having been reprieved in the CMA Premier South last season, were transferred to the North division over the summer, and began the new campaign with a come-from-behind, 2-1 win.

Following a goalless first half, Joshua Turner opened the scoring from the spot for the hosts early in the second before goals from Cameron Pinnick, on the goal-line, levelled proceedings just after the hour mark, with Joshua Parfitt snatching the winner with minutes remaining.

Following on from lasts seasons near heroics, the result was Tevie’s sixth win in their last ten outings ahead of their home bow against Worksop Town Reserves, on Tuesday night, at the Tomlin Personnel Park.

A dampener during the season opener for Tevie was the injury suffered by Josh Jackson late in the first half, which has since been confirmed as a broken leg.

TEVERSAL – Oliver Winfield, Jack McWilliams, Scott Taylor, Brandon Clarke, William Hunter, Shane Burton, Josh Jackson, Elliott Bland, Tyron Macaskill, Sam Jackson, Josh Parfitt (subs – Cameron Pinnick, Cory Burton, Harry Topliss, Lewis Cooper, Rocco Hardy)

The following day would see a further three games in the Premier North, and two in Premier South, involving Notts-based clubs, with the Division One sides kicking off later this month, as the Worksop sides had mixed outings, and RHP Sports began with a home win over Yorkshire Main.

Worksop Town Reserves won 5-2 away to AFC Phoenix as Max Eastwood scored twice alongside goals from Ethan Slater, Luke Abdy, and Tyrese Bailey-Green, whilst SJR Worksop conceded five in their 5-1 defeat away to Hatfield Town, Lewis Colley with the consolation.

As for RHP Sports, they picked up a narrow, 2-1 win at home to Yorkshire Main, Aiden Horner and Kieran Job with the goals for the victors; meanwhile, in the Premier South, both Linby Colliery Welfare and Mansfield Hosiery Mills conceded four in defeats.

Linby were beaten 4-0 off visitors Selston, they netting twice in each half, Alex Hardman and George Layton scored at the start and finish of the first half, whilst Nick Hines and Conner Ward wrapped up the win with two, quick-fire goals, in the final ten minutes.

In the other game, Warwick Ward’s goal for Hosiery Mills was scant consolation as they feel to a 4-1 loss when away to Gresley Rovers Reserves.

Midweek fixtures are as follows – PREMIER NORTH Ollerton Town vs. Glapwell; Teversal vs. Worksop Town Reserves (Tuesday 5 August); PREMIER SOUTH Linby Colliery Welfare vs. Mickleover Reserves (Tuesday 5 August); Graham Street Prims vs. Blidworth Welfare; Mansfield Hosiery Mills vs. Mickleover RBL
