Big Wins For Badgers & Wood
It was a busy day, with plenty of goals, across the GCE Hire Fleet United Counties League on Saturday afternoon, with Sherwood Colliery hitting six in the Premier Division North, and Retford United firing nine in Division One.
Jacob Pearce and Kieran Knight were both on-hand to notch braces as Deeping Rangers were brushed aside 6-0 at Debdale Park, Zander Duhameau and Lewis Warnaby also netting as the Wood eased to victory.
Elsewhere in the Premier North there was to be home wins for both Newark & Sherwood United, 2-1 against AFC Mansfield, and for Newark Town, 3-2 against Hucknall Town; Joseph Smith and Aaron Coyle netted for the Highwaymen late in the first half, Kaylum Mitchell pulling one back in second half stoppage time whilst a brace from Alex Hales and one from Louis Czerwak saw Town to three points against the visiting Yellows for whom Calrick Dunkley and Lewis Belgrave netted very late on.
Kimberley Miners Welfare were edged in a seven-goal, opening day thriller, when away to Wisbech Town, the hosts leading 2-1 at the break; Kimbo netted through Lewis Partridge early in the first, and late second half goals from Finn Ryder and Kole Lambert, the latter with eight remaining.
The remaining Premier North game involving a Notts-based side saw Eastwood CFC fall to a 2-0 defeat when away to Blackstones.
Meanwhile, in Division One, Retford United were rampant when home to Sandiacre Town, hitting five without reply in the first half, before running out 9-2 winners; Badgers goal-machine Lewis Chambers hit a four-goal salvo, his first coming from the penalty spot, alongside braces from Brandon Kane and Charlie Fox, Matthew Tootle completing the scoring for the table-toppers – Benni Wilson’s brace was scant consolation in reply.

Radford picked up their second league win of the season with a comfortable, 3-0 success, against visiting Rainworth Miners Welfare, goals coming from Harrison Mellors, Dennan Morgan, and Kuwsi Ofushine, all coming in the last half hour.
Chris Okoye was on-hand with a brace for Southwell City in their second win of the season, winning 2-0 at home to West Bridgford, whilst there was defeats for Clifton All Whites (4-0 at home to South Normanton Athletic), Clipstone (1-0 off visitors Pinchbeck United), Dunkirk (4-1 at Dronfield Town), Retford (2-1 at Pinxton), Shirebrook Town (1-0 at home to Coalville Town) and Gelding Miners Welfare (2-0 against hosts Sleaford Town).
