Coleman Treble Helps Choughs Win

There was plenty of midweek action in the GCE Hire Fleet United Counties League Division One, with plenty of goals being scored including eight in the game Radford and Clifton All Whites.

Musa Jawara fired a four-goal salvo as the Pheasants drew 4-4 with visiting Clifton, they hitting back with goals from Ben Bowers, Blaise Duruaku, Oscar Hugenholtz, and Isaac Smart; meanwhile Gedling Miners Welfare were beaten by the odd goal in seven when home to Pinchbeck United, second half goals coming for the hosts from Kieran Harrison, Courtney Hastings, and substitute Nashiem Isman.

Again, both Retford sides registered victories, with the Badgers top of the pile, unbeaten in seven, following their battling, 2-1 win away to struggling Clipstone; Jackson Buckthorp and Lewis Chambers netted in the opening half hour, the Cobras with a consolation late on via Jake Batty on Wednesday night.

The night before saw the Choughs claim a 5-2 win at Sleaford Town, and now sit fifth, with a game in hand on those above them in the table; Rory Coleman helped himself to a second half, eleven-minute hat-trick, alongside goals from Richard Patterson and Aaron Sennett-Nielson.

In the Sleaford-Retford game, both saw a player dismissed, the hosts having taken an interval lead through Ben Ashall, with Riley Wilkinson having equalised at 2-2 before the Choughs took firm control of proceedings.

West Bridgford were held to a 1-1 draw against visiting FCV Grace Dieu, Elliot King with the hosts’ goal, whilst the remaining three Notts-based clubs suffered defeat.

Shirebrook Town were beaten 2-1 thanks to a stoppage time goal at Swallownest, Sandiacre Town went down 2-0 at home to Pinxton, and Rainworth Miners Welfare suffered a seven-goal thrashing away to South Normanton Athletic; in winning 7-0 the hosts would see William Whitehead bag an early brace, netting five in the second half, and continue to challenge at the top.

One game was also played in the Camper UK Central Midlands Alliance Premier North and South divisions this past midweek with Worksop Town Reserves winning 3-2 in the North, and Blidworth Welfare being held to a 2-2 draw in the South.

The Tigers’ second string, thanks to a brace from Max Eastwood, are fourth in the early throes of the current season, three points off early leaders Dinnington Town, but having played a game more than those around them.

Meanwhile, the Blid were held by visiting leaders, Derby Singh Brothers, who snatched a draw late on thanks to Mario Gomez’s effort two minutes from time; moving up to fifth both with the point, the hosts were thankful for goals from Triston Burrell and Dillon Hodgkinson.
