Kimberley Miners Welfare, albeit having played a game more, have a three-point advantage atop of the GCE Hire Fleet United Counties League Premier Division North following the midweek matches.

The advantage came after they registered a 3-1 home win against Heanor Town, and fellow Notts club, Sherwood Colliery, feel to defeat; the following night Newark Town exited the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Cup with a defeat at home to Eastwood CFC.

It would be on Tuesday night, at the Mill Street Recreational Ground, that Kimbo picked up another three points, stretching their unbeaten run to five in all competitions, and this despite not only being a goal down at half-time, had the same predicament with less than an hour to go.

The visitors took the lead through Mason Booth-Davis’ goal after fifteen minutes, the equaliser not coming until the sixty-sixth minute when Finley Ryder found the back net; after that the hosts found their rhythm and, once substitute Daniel Davy had grabbed the second there was only going to be one winner, Joshua Timson with the third just minutes later,

On the same night Newark & Sherwood United were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Deeping Rangers, the Highwaymen netting in the second half through Ryley Thompson and a stoppage time equaliser from Scott Floyd; and Sherwood Colliery were beaten handsomely, 4-1, at home to Belper United, Kieran O’Connell with a brace for the victors, Joshua Waldram with the hosts’ consolation.

On the Wednesday night, Hucknall Town blew a two-goal lead to draw at home to Ashby Ivanhoe in the league, and Newark Town were beaten 3-1 off their visitors, local rivals Eastwood in the County Cup.

At Hucknall a goal from Bradley Wells had the Yellows a goal to the good at the break, Solace Uyi-Olaye with the second on the hour. It looked like they had all three points in the bag as the game ticked into stoppage time, but the visitors struck twice to earn a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, at Newark, they exited the Notts FA Senior Cup when falling to defeat against Eastwood, the Red Badgers netting through Daniel Dunn and Terry Hawkridge in the first half, and, after Ryan Rushen had pulled one back in the closing ten, Marcus Marshall restored the two-goal advantage, and with it, progression to the next round.

There was also plenty action in the UCL Division One across both nights, although the County Cup game between Stapleford Town and Dunkirk was abandoned due to a player injury; those two Retford sides though, they continue to set the pace at the top.

The Choughs currently lead by two, but have played a game more on their town rivals, the Badgers, with both sides winning, the former picking up a 2-0 win at Staveley Miners Welfare and the latter a 6-1 drubbing of visiting Pinchbeck United, both on the Wednesday night.

Joshua Scully and Ahmad Tahar were on target for Retford in their win, whilst there were braces for both Carlton Carty and Lewis Chambers as Retford United cruised to three points.

Sandiacre are joint-third following their 2-0 win at West Bridgford, whilst Radford moved within four points of the top five with a 1-0 win at home to Sleaford Town; there were also victories for Clifton All Whites (4-1 at home to Gedling Miners Welfare), Rainworth Miners Welfare (2-1 at home to Shirebrook Town), and Clipstone (2-1 at home to Dronfield Town), whilst the game between Southwell City and South Normanton Athletic finished in a 2-2 draw, the visitors equalising in the ninety-second minute.

Elsewhere, Selston drew 1-1 away to Gresley Rovers Reserves in the Camper UK Central Midlands Alliance Premier South, Jack Cockram netting for the hosts, whilst in the Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division Bingham Town won 2-1 away to Collingham thanks to goals from Jacob Boyes and Kieran Stanley, Jack Wilkinson scoring for the hosts.
