Eastwood and Clipstone continue to impress at the top end of their respective, United Counties League divisions, following four-goal home wins on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Badgers are sitting second in UCL Premier North, and registered a fifth successive win in the league after seeing off visitors, and local rivals, Sherwood Colliery, on Saturday afternoon.

Having previously beaten Blackstones (4-1), Gresley Rovers (6-0), Kimberley Miners Welfare (2-0), and Aylestone Park (6-3) in recent weeks, the visit of Sherwood would be another test of their early season credentials, one passed with flying colours.

Jamie Walker had the hosts a goal to the good late in the first half, his seventh goal of the season, before Tyler Blake bagged his thirteenth of the season thus far, within six minutes of the restart; a shell-shocked Wood side fell further behind minutes later when Luke Rawson added a third, whilst a fourth came from Jacob Pearce in the closing minutes.

Between the Red Badgers’ third and fourth goals, the Wood claimed their consolation effort, Jordan Preston finding the back of the net with twelve to go; for the free-scoring hosts however, it was another three points on the board, and took their early tally to forty goals in twelve games.

Five of those came the previous week in a cup match away to UCL Division One high-fliers, Clipstone, the Cobras spitting back this week with a routine, 4-0 home win over visiting Sandiacre Town.

Jamie Goddard had the hosts a goal to the good on the stroke of half-time, before a three-goal blitz in the second half sealed the rout, Eden Homer, Drew Allwood and Oliver Monington all finding the net.

National League North side, Worksop Town, were on FA Cup duty, they earning a replay following a 2-2 draw away to AFC Telford United, Liam Waldock scoring from the penalty spot late in the first half, and Chae Whitman-Brown netting late in the second.

Meanwhile, it was mixed fortunes for the two Notts clubs in the Northern Premier League Midlands division, Carlton Town winning 2-0 away to Rugby Borough, Nathaniel Watson and Sam Tomlinson with the goals, and Basford Untied losing 4-1 at home to Loughborough Students, Brad Gascoigne with the consolation for the hosts.

Back in the UCL Premier North and AFC Mansfield won 3-1 at home to Clay Cross Town, their three goals coming inside the final twenty minutes, whilst there were draws for Newark Town (3-3 at home to Aylestone Park) and Kimberley MW (0-0 against visiting Blackstones).

The remaining game would see Hucknall Town beaten 4-2 at home to Ashby Ivanhoe, whilst in UCL Division One there was a 4-1 win for Dunkirk away to Harrowby United, and a 3-0 home win for Southwell City against Dronfield Town.

Selston and Clifton All Whites drew 1-1, and Radford were held to a goalless draw with visiting Shirebrook Town; Cotgrave suffered a 4-1 reverse at home to South Normanton Athletic, and Gedling Miners Welfare were beaten 3-0 at Sleaford Town.

The two Retford sides in the Northern Counties East League Premier also had mixed, own-goal fortunes; Retford United won 2-1 away to Campion thanks to second half goals from Phil Watt and Alans Voskresenskis, before conceding an own-goal late on, and Retford drawing 1-1 at home to Golcar United, both goals coming in the first half as own-goal gave the hosts a share of the points.

Only a handful of games were played in the Central Midlands Alliance League, Teversal earning a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Glapwell (Jordan jones and Tom Suter netting) whilst Ollerton Town were thumped 5-0 away to Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves, both in the Premier South.

RHP Sports and Long Bennington both exited the Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup following heavy defeats on the road, the former going down 4-0 at Brodsworth Main, and the latter, 5-0 at Harworth Colliery.

As for the Nottinghamshire Football League Premier Division, Collingham are the new leaders, on goal-difference from Beeston, after they edged a nine-goal thriller away to Awsworth Villa.

Harrison Gomm scored twice for Collo in a game that saw eight different scorers, whilst Beeston slipped up, 2-1, away to undefeated Meden Vale Colts; despite sitting seventh in the table, the Colts have games in hand on those above, and are only three points off the top two.

Keyworth United, Newark & Sherwood United, and Rainworth Miners Welfare, all picked home wins whilst scoring four time apiece; Keyworth defeated Stapleford Town Reserves and Newark & Sherwood saw off Southwell City Reserves, both 4-1, whilst Rainworth won 4-2 against visiting Notts Olympic.

The remaining two games saw Ruddington Village win 2-1 at Arnold Town, and Wollaton win 3-1 at home to Kimberley MW Reserves.
