Nottingham Team To Face Carnegie
Nottingham Rugby will make six changes from the side that beat London Scottish in last weekends Championship Cup Pool 3 match as they visit Yorkshire Carnegie on Saturday (2:30pm KO) knowing a win will see them comfortably through to the next stage with a favourable Quarter Final tie.
Even a defeat at Headingley should see Nottingham through but having beat Carnegie already this season 83-0 the Green and Whites should be huge favourites in facing a side that has lost all five pool matches scoring only 19 points and conceding 288 points along the way.
A win could see Nottingham jump into the highest ranked four teams which will guarantee a home Quarter Final tie with opposition most likely to be from Coventry or Jersey Reds.
A defeat however could see them face highest ranked Newcastle Falcons away in the tie most would want to avoid.
Head Coach Neil Fowkes will rotate his squad to give more game time to those that don’t always play stating “We’ve rotated our squad. I think the cup campaign has been a squad effort so we’ve rotated boys around. Jack Spittle comes back in after getting a head knock down at Pirates so he comes back in to the side and Foley drops on to the bench.”
“We’ve got good confidence in all of our squad so by rotating it, it means everyone gets the game time they need but it also means we can be fresh.”
Starting Team: Sean Scanlon, Jack Spittle, Harry Strong, Luke Peters, David Williams, Will Millett, Alex Dolly, Jamie Jack, Ben Brownlie, Oisin Heffernan, Ollie Chessum, Danny Qualter, Seb Cecil, Will Owen, Josh Poullet.
Replacements: Luke Cole, Aniseko Sio, Ben Betts, Llewelyn Jones, George Cox, Murray McConnell, Shane O’Leary, Ben Foley.
